The Hellenic Community of Ottawa (HCO) is a non-profit organization founded in 1929 focused on preserving and promoting the Hellenic Culture, language, history and Orthodox faith in Ottawa.

The HCO has a membership of over 1,000 people and hosts the annual Ottawa GreekFest, one of the largest Greek festivals in North America, and the Gold Plate Dinner, one of Ottawa’s most successful fundraising events.

It is also a leader in the Ottawa community for supporting and raising the profile of many local charities including the Ottawa Heart Institute and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Our mission is to support and grow the Greek community in Ottawa. By sharing in regular activities and special events, we ensure Greek culture stays a thriving part of Ottawa’s cultural mosaic. We enjoy sharing Hellenic culture with the entire Ottawa community because we are immensely proud of our Greek heritage.

We thank all applicants for their interest. However, only those to be interviewed will be contacted.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. However, members of the Hellenic Community of Ottawa members will be given priority.

Within the Hellenic Community of Ottawa, we are extremely fortunate to have certain members that tirelessly give (and have given) their time and energy to ensure the vitality of our church and community. However, many of them can go unnoticed because we haven’t typically had a proper platform to celebrate them. It’s time to change that.

We are very happy to announce the “HCO Member Spotlight” series, an ongoing feature where members of the HCO who go (and have gone) above and beyond for their church and community will be spotlighted. And the best part: these individuals will be decided by YOU – our members! We simply ask that any individuals you nominate be a paid member of the HCO. The nominations will be reviewed by the HCO Communications Committee, and if the nominees agree to be highlighted, they will be featured on our HCO Facebook and Instagram Pages, and sent out to members over email.

Nominating someone is very simple:

1. Send a direct message to either the HCO Facebook Page or the HCO Instagram Page OR send an email to

2. Provide the name of the person(s) you’d like to nominate

3. In a few sentences, explain why you believe the member(s) should be recognized

It’s time we do a better job of paying tribute to those who go above and beyond for our church and community, so we encourage you to nominate someone you think deserves recognition!
