Who We Are
The Hellenic Community of Ottawa (HCO) is a non-profit organization founded in 1929 focused on preserving and promoting the Hellenic Culture, language, history and Orthodox faith in Ottawa.
The HCO has a membership of over 1,000 people and hosts the annual Ottawa GreekFest, one of the largest Greek festivals in North America, and the Gold Plate Dinner, one of Ottawa’s most successful fundraising events.
It is also a leader in the Ottawa community for supporting and raising the profile of many local charities including the Ottawa Heart Institute and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
Our mission is to support and grow the Greek community in Ottawa. By sharing in regular activities and special events, we ensure Greek culture stays a thriving part of Ottawa’s cultural mosaic. We enjoy sharing Hellenic culture with the entire Ottawa community because we are immensely proud of our Greek heritage.
We provide access to cultural and spiritual activities for adults and children alike. From a Greek language school to Greek dance classes, we help children learn their culture. Our programs for adults and seniors help keep ties to our Greek culture strong.
Many of our activities are held at the Hellenic Event Centre.

Accessibility Plan
Statement of Commitment
In 2005, the government of Ontario passed the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (the “AODA”). The AODA requires that, effective January 1, 2014 the Hellenic Community of Ottawa (HCO) establish, implement , maintain and document a multi-year accessibility plan which outlines the organization’s strategy to prevent and remove barriers for persons with disabilities and to meet requirements under the AODA.
The multi-year plan outlines HCO’S strategy to prevent and remove barriers for persons with disabilities and to address the current and future requirements of the AODA in order that we may fulfill our commitment as outlined in the HCO Accessibility Policy.
The Accessibility Plan is available to the public and will be provided in an accessible format when requested.
